Hanging on to Summer

As the unofficial end of summer approaches this Labor Day weekend, I am desperately trying to hang on to the last of the warm sun-filled days when everything seems to move at a more leisurely pace.  Short of relocating somewhere with year round summer, how about incorporating that lighthearted airiness into our surroundings?  This home featured in AD Spain inspired by the sea does just that.

I love the stylish use of cheerful colors and patterns against bright white walls from which everything appears more vibrant and fresh.  So playfully elegant.

Happy Friday

Hope you had a spectacular July 4th holiday and are off to enjoy a lovely summer weekend.  Here in the Pacific Northwest, it feels at times as if summer weather will never arrive as we search daily for hints of the sun’s brilliant rays. {Update: summer streak is here!} Perhaps a cheerful distraction is the appearance of pre-fall collections at the shops, presenting clever ways to brighten up the gray days ahead.  I intend to indulge in color and am particularly drawn to this red and blue ensemble after the recent holiday.  Here’s to long leisurely walks in the park – with or without an umbrella.  Bon weekend a tous!
