On previous trips to Paris, we stayed on the right bank, so this time to try something different we stayed on the left, which to me felt more removed from touristy crowds and rather tranquil. Up the street from our hotel was Le Cherche Midi, a restaurant packed with locals night after night. So one evening, we had a delicious Italian dinner there. Have you ever seen such an abundance of shaved truffles on pasta? Afterwards, we wandered down to the Seine, caught the most gorgeous red sunset, and strolled across Lovers bridge with its shimmering padlocks.
On another evening we lined up at our favorite place for steak frites: Relais l’Entrecôte, where it seems they have greatly expanded their dessert menu since we last visited. Happily, the efficient service and secret sauce remains unchanged.
We took a stroll through the beautifully lush Jardin du Luxembourg, the second largest public park in Paris and garden of the French senate. It is my new favorite place in Paris.
Hope you have enjoyed seeing Paris through our eyes these past few days. Already, we long to return … After all, Paris is most lovely in the fall.
