Lunar New Year 2013

Happy Lunar New Year!  We welcomed the year of the snake by partaking in some of the festivities in Seattle’s International District.  There were lion dances, fire crackers, kids dressed up in silk finery, and of course, lots of food to be eaten.  It is a tradition in my family to gather around the table on New Year’s eve over a big simmering pot of soup into which you toss meat, vegetables, tofu, and whatever else you wish, cooking and eating as you go.  Although culinary skills are not required, the time prepping and chopping can be burdensome, so this year {with family scattered about}, we opted to go out to Gourmet Noodle Bowl and were quite pleased.  May the new year bring lots of prosperity, good health, and happiness to all.
