ABC Kitchen & ABC Home

I recently had a chance to revisit one of my favorite restaurants in New York City: ABC Kitchen, a place that is so perfectly designed that one feels right at home with its lovely antiqued finishes and French countryside vibe.  Thanks to Chef Jean-Georges, I would gladly return again and again for the divinely prepared food.  Here’s how we lunched on that one fine day.ABC KitchenABC KitchenABC Kitchen

As you know, ABC Home happens to be my ultimate design haven, so of course, we did some browsing, and as usual, the scene was simply delightful and inspiring.  From yards of velvety ribbons and whimsical pillows to shelves of sparkly crystal and ceramics, exquisite treasures were stashed around every bend.  Obviously, the reocurring debate over want versus need ensued.ABC HomeABC KitchenABC Home

Shop: ABC Carpet & Home

A design and decor must in New York City is the inimitable ABC Home, filled with floor after floor of dreamy inspiration.  Years ago, as a student, I recall perusing its endless displays of ingenuity and lavishness that prompted many a day dream building impossibly sumptuous rooms.  On a recent visit to my beloved city, I stopped by the store briefly and was once again able to revel in its glorious grandeur … bowls of stardust, whimsical little mice, and all the French inspired furnishings one could possibly want. Have a splendid Easter weekend …

A Few New Things

Driving down from Whistler, BC a few weeks ago, we passed through Vancouver to indulge our love of Japanese ramen, and of course, stopped into a favorite decor shop, The Cross.  Picked up these pretty things … including an amazing zebra striped leather pillow.  Every time I visit, I get the urge to completely redecorate my home and fill it with marvelous furnishings from the store.  Have a fabulous weekend.

Decor shop: Le’ Objects

Being the devoted decor junkie that I am, I like venturing to Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood where the industrial enclave of buildings have come to house a unique collection of design and decor boutiques.  Whenever I am there, I feel the collective flow of bohemian creativity and imagine teams of artisans tucked away in their shops doggedly tinkering, inventing, and mastering their craft.  On a recent Saturday, I wandered into Le’ Objects and encountered a marvelous collection of home accessories.  Naturally, it is a shop with personality, well-curated, and stocked with special objects new and old.

I came home with these charming {and functional} vintage binoculars.  Have always wanted a pair … and they look quite nice on my shelf, don’t you think?

A Weekend in Vancouver B.C.

We spent a recent weekend in picturesque Vancouver visiting some of our favorite haunts while making a few new discoveries on the restaurant front.  It was a perfect day for a drive and a walk around the beautiful sea wall as the sail boats bobbed in the water, perhaps preparing for a final summer sail along the harbor.

We checked into one of our favorite boutique hotels of late, Loden, where we can always find a relaxed atmosphere, modern decor, and serenity within a short walk from the shops and our favorite Japanese restaurant Miku.

Every time I visit the Cross, I get the urge to redecorate my home.  The shop is full of inspiration and carries a well-edited collection of chic furnishings, tabletop items, decor accessories, candles, frames, and so much more.  A major end of summer sale was going on, so I scored an Oly side table as well as a floor lamp by Arteriors.

Delicious places where we ate: {1-2} Afternoon tea at Urban Tea Merchant; {3-4} scrumptious Indian cuisine at Vij’s Rangoli; {5-10} phenomenal Japanese izakaya at Kingyo with {6} Kobe beef searing on hot stone, {7} frozen grapes to end the meal, {8} frozen green tea brûlée, {9} tastiest tan tan noodles, which we dug into before the photo; and {11} a favorite ramen house.

Vancouver Restaurants

As we left town with our bellies full and spirits rejuvenated, we passed by this friendly display waving hello and goodbye, as if sending us off and telling us to remember to return soon.  That, I guarantee, is something we will most certainly do.
