Fashion + Decor: Wintry Luxe

It is a gorgeous winter Friday, following a splendid Valentine’s Day celebrated with a delectable dinner, sweets galore, and a single perfect red rose.  Sensing Spring just around the corner, but nevertheless, happened upon the perfect winter combination … wrapped in fur with a little glimmer of crystal, sitting by a roaring fire in a mountainside lodge saturated in warm chocolate hues that keep the chill of the snowdrifts at bay.  Have a beautiful {and hopefully, long} weekend.

Chic Camera Bags

Simultaneous with the proliferation of street style fashion blogs is the ubiquity of DSLR cameras and the legions of fresh new eyes in the world of photography.  Even without a DSLR, an iPhone with its seemingly endless photo filtering and processing options allow amateurs to capture and perfect their visions quite beautifully.  These days, we are all photographers, and to this end, it was only a matter of time before designers devised ways to make traditionally bulky and unappealing camera cases into the latest “it” bags.  A few of my favorites are as follows.  {1} The monogrammed case by Rebecca Minkoff is beyond adorable.

Sophie Hulme ~ F/W 2012

Recently, on my fashion radar is British women’s wear and accessories designer Sophie Hulme whose current collection features classic silhouettes infused with wonderful modern details.  I adore the brassy gold accents as well as the edgy use of leather.  The collection is absolutely timeless and chic in an effortless way.  More here.

Fall Style Inspiration: Leather

If you have been minding any fashion trends at all, you already know that leather is huge this fall.  Not your average leather jacket kind of leather, but the most imaginative and strategic uses on sleeves, collars, leggings … and not just in typical black or brown, but in all color varieties.  Behold, my latest obsession, expertly executed by Russian fashion editor and style icon, Miroslava Duma, who recently wore this beyond edgy ensemble to the Jill Sander show during Milan Fashion Week.  I am putting my best detective hat on to hunt down this sleeveless color-blocked leather creation.  Help me, please?  UPDATE: This gorgeous leather peplum-ish top is from Céline’s spring 2012 collection.

Fall Fashion 2012

As much as I am in denial about the end of summer, I do steadfastly adore fall fashion. The coats, boots, and layering possibilities allow for endless concoctions of chic imaginative ensembles.  This season, I find myself hopelessly drawn to beautiful embroidery and brocade creations with a nod to the far east, harking back to ancient imperial China.  Both Proenza Schouler and Dries Van Noten showed stunning creations in this vein.  Simply magnificent.

However I am drawn to these beautiful creations, I do suffer a moment’s hesitation as a person of Asian descent … Would it be overkill looking like I parade about in my ancestral threads of centuries past?  Then again, it only takes a glance at the persuasive modern silhouettes to remove all doubt.
