Shop: ABC Carpet & Home

A design and decor must in New York City is the inimitable ABC Home, filled with floor after floor of dreamy inspiration.  Years ago, as a student, I recall perusing its endless displays of ingenuity and lavishness that prompted many a day dream building impossibly sumptuous rooms.  On a recent visit to my beloved city, I stopped by the store briefly and was once again able to revel in its glorious grandeur … bowls of stardust, whimsical little mice, and all the French inspired furnishings one could possibly want. Have a splendid Easter weekend …

A Few New Things

Driving down from Whistler, BC a few weeks ago, we passed through Vancouver to indulge our love of Japanese ramen, and of course, stopped into a favorite decor shop, The Cross.  Picked up these pretty things … including an amazing zebra striped leather pillow.  Every time I visit, I get the urge to completely redecorate my home and fill it with marvelous furnishings from the store.  Have a fabulous weekend.

A Townhouse in Alexandria, VA

As a child, I remember longing for a canopy bed, one that is sweepingly grand and utterly impractical.  I was not into dolls or the typical girlish things, but a canopy bed was something I desperately wanted.  So when I happened upon images of interior designer Barbara Franceski’s home, this room with its grownup version of my dream bed lingered in my thoughts.  It is evident in a home with so much personality that it is never too late to pursue the stuff of your {perhaps long abandoned} childhood dreams.  Full story and more photos here.  Have a delightful weekend.

Pacific Galleries Revisited

It had been a year since I last visited Pacific Galleries Antique Mall and since then my talented sister-in-law opened a booth {Location: Magnolia no.2} filled with beautiful antiquities.  She has an exquisitely detailed eye for all things vintage and French-inspired, forever scouring flea markets near and far for old treasures. There is a lovely collection of sparkly crystal chandeliers, silver, and tabletop porcelain, and I am told the booth is getting a Spring makeover soon {coastal blues, greens, and neutrals}.  More goodies to come and if you prefer online shopping, visit her Etsy shop here.  Lots of things caught my eye that day … See other well-curated gems below.
